(More customer reviews)On July 12th, I received the Carr light wing in the original manufacturer's packing/box and the box was slightly bent. It had been shipped via UPS. When the light wing was removed from the package, it was seriously bent and had a big crack in one wing. This obviously could have occured during shipping and wouldn't necessarily be the fault of Carr. However, I would definitely suggest to them, should they ask, that they package their product in a more protective manner for shipping. The biggest disappointment was the "so called" polished finish. It wasn't anywhere near what I envisioned a polished finish would look like. It was dull and dis-colored and not what I'd hoped for. Given the fact that it had been damaged during shipping, I returned it to Amazon for a refund.
In addition to placing the above review, I cc'd a copy of the review to the Carr email address from their website. On July 13th, the day after the review, I received a call from Jeff Carr, the owner of Carr, Inc. Jeff was very concerned about my negative experience with the light wing and was willing to do whatever necessary, within reason, to "make it right". I explained to him that my biggest concern wasn't necessarily the damage caused by shipping but more the finish on the light wing. Jeff explained that the company has experienced problems with quality control but that the problems I detailed seemed more like "one that slipped passed" as opposed to the norm. In fact, Jeff advised me that they receive very few complaints regarding the light wing. In all of my "online" buying experiences, I have never had the owner of a company contact me personally to see that I was treated right and to satisfy the complaint. You won't find that with many companies anymore and I applaud Jeff for his efforts and for taking the time to contact one of his unhappy customers and to offer a very reasonable deal to satisfy the complaint. Jeff agreed to sell me the chrome version of the light wing for the same price I paid for the "polished" version. I haven't received the new one yet but was assured by Jeff that should I have any complaints whatsoever with the new one that he'll refund my money in total. You can't get any better treatment than that. Personally, when it comes time for me to buy another product in line with what Carr offers, I'll turn to them first. Customer satisfaction is the very heart of a good business and I'm impressed with Jeff Carr.
